Bespoke Stilo ST6 Helmet for Reno Francot: Matte Finish & Pearl Black Texture
The transition from karting categories to single-seater racing is a crucial milestone for any driver’s career, where visual identity plays a fundamental role. For the young Dutch racing talent Reno Francot, currently competing in the prestigious Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA), we developed a bespoke custom graphic designed to emphasize the aerodynamic lines of his new Stilo ST6 helmet.
The Stilo ST6 shell represents the state of the art in safety and aerodynamic performance for formula racing. Working on such a technical surface requires not only creativity but also millimeter precision to preserve the structural properties of the FIA-homologated helmet.
The Graphic Concept and Color Palette
The design was developed to convey speed and dynamism even when the helmet is stationary. We combined vibrant tones with sophisticated details, playing with color contrast and surface finishes:
- Fluorescent Orange and Silver: A tribute to the driver’s national colors, paired with metallic silver shapes that outline the flow lines of the design.
- Blue, Black, and White Gradients: A fluid gradient blending the different sections of the helmet, creating a sense of transition and continuous movement along the sides of the shell.
- The Pearl Black Texture: Inside the black paint areas, we applied a special pearlescent finish. This texture reveals deep reflections under direct track sunlight, adding a layer of detail that is invisible from a distance but striking up close.
The Matte Finish
To emphasize the aggressive, racing look of the helmet, the entire custom paint job was sealed with a high-resistance matte protective clear coat. The matte finish eliminates direct glossy reflections, enhancing the depth of the gradients and making the pearl black texture stand out even more clearly within the design.
Every single line, masking, and shadow was executed entirely by hand in our studio in Italy, combining custom paint craftsmanship with the technical precision demanded in international Formula racing.
